I recently went to Marbella, Spain with Wilda.

After seeing the place online countless times and Wilda having it on must-see list, we got to escape without Harley for some relaxation as well as a chance to catch up on a lot of work and get stuff done! Not always easy with a very energetic (almost) 2-year-old.

Marbella is Southern Spain, about 1 hour from Gibraltar and not much further to North Africa. It is by far one of the coolest places I have had the privilege of visiting. Amazing weather ( even in Autumn), nice beaches, clean streets, AMAZING RESTAURANTS and extremely friendly people. Palm trees line the beach and most streets, with some seriously sized houses scattered everywhere you go. I could see the slight Moroccan vibe with the terracotta houses and palm trees- it just made for an amazing cultural mix. Although Spain isn’t known for its excessive use of English, we found most people weren’t too bad and had no issues in getting around or finding what we needed.

We stayed 50m from the beach in the center of Marbella in a really nice, modern apartment from Air BnB. Close to everything we needed, cafes, bars, restaurants, and ice cream shops 😉 Puerto Banus was a 10-15 minute drive away which we checked out for dinner as well as getting in a workout and this unreal outdoor gym which had a full calisthenics set-up! I could definitely spend my training days there!

Childfree…

Although Harley didn’t come with up for this trip, it would probably have been the easiest place we have been to so far to have him come along for the fun! There were playgrounds everywhere, a huge car-free boardwalk that went for kilometers along the beach and kids clubs everywhere. It was definitely a child-friendly place- something I wouldn’t have even noticed a few years ago, but that’s how times change!

It is definitely a place we want to visit again and could even see us live there for some time of the year. harley would love it and we would both love the beautiful weather and health-obsessed beachside town. Thanks to a few friends we had there we got to explore other parts of Marbella, we even made a day trip out to Ronda- an amazing little town with a huge waterfall and bridge as a centerpiece. Not wanting to see the waterfall from a few hundred meters up, we hiked through hills, bush, HUGE rocks and water to get to the base of the water and swim in the naturally formed rock-pools. Such a highlight!

The break spent in Marbella was perfect, giving us a break, time to refresh, reset and find some more motivation going forward! If you are thinking about visiting Spain and in particular- Marbella, DO IT, you won’t be disappointed.
